autoshift convert to manual shift is it possible????

Postby greertrac on November 4th, 2004

I have an autoshift 10 speed. My friend told me it could be changed over to a 13 speed by changing the top and adding a "box" on the rear of transmission.
Is this possible? If so where do I get the parts? Does anyone know someone that has actually done this?
Thanks for any replies

There is a model of the Eaton 9 speed that can be converted to a 13 speed. Look up the Eaton web site. I don't want to put the model number down for fear that I might not remember it right.

Do not believe everything you hear.
The autoshift 10 is a different trans than the 13 speed. Maybe the "only differences" you can see are the shift rail cover and the rear splitter, but this is enough to make it nearly impossible to convert from one to the other.

No but it can be converted to a full manual. and if by chance you start having intermittant shift problems have the mechanic closely examine the wiring harnesses for any crimping or wear. I went through 6 weeks of hell, tow bills and very expesnive parts and labor when mine started acting "stupid" finally called Eaton raised heck and they sent a rep to my truck and he found the wiring problem. Why the mechanic did not find the problem I do not know, but ah well.... the rep had Eaton foot the bill on the new harnesses and even gave me his cell # in case anything else went wrong. Now tell me what co. rep would go that far???

seems to me that case is different trans controller [ecu] is bolted over top of where slave valve should mount and case is not drilled for range shift interlock piston to prevent engaugement of range shift while in gear because range shift is electronicly controled in auto shift
