My name is Justin Isham. I am a documentary filmmaker from New York working on the initial stages of a film based on truck stop prostitution in the United States. We have had interest from HBO, A&E and several other documentary production companies. I am looking for information on the places with the highest concentrations of lot lizards. I am also looking to speak with truckers whose lives have been negatively effected by contact with these women. I would also like to ride along with someone and capture this experience on video for the film. If anyone can be of assistance, please let me know. Thanks for your time.
Justin I'm not a trucker but several family members are my husbands fixing to be one and a few of my friends are drivers as well. I went and met one of my friends at the Flying J in Jackson Ga a few months ago just to get to see his new truck and before he was transferred permanently up north . It was broad daylight 11 am I wanted 3 Lot Lizards start in the center of the parking lot getting on rigs banging on the doors in windows to see if they could make a sale my friend and about 10 other truckers where watching them and talking about them on the cb I found it very interesting that these women would be out in broad daylight and be all over mans truck like a tickturd on the hwy to haties. One of them ended up with a guy in a Blue Kenworth but the other 2 women went and played With a UPS Driver and as the old saying goes the truck was a rockin so it was best not to be knocking but I guess Im just trying to tell you this You ain't gotta drive a Big Rig to watch Lot Lizards just get in ya car and go to a few truck stops and pack lots of film you will need it . My friend told me that in every stop you will find ladies of the evening ( lot lizards) and it don't matter what time of the day or night that it is cause theirs always one on duty some where . So Justin if you really want to film them just get you a lil book that has all the truck stops in it a road atlas and go for it . Be Safe Be careful, Wear Triple Protection and carry a can of Raid never know when you may need it
A walk in the clouds is like a walk on water
Justin, May I ask in what light your documentary will shed these creatures?
They are a bain on the entire trucking industry. Those "working girls" are the lowest form of life in my opinion.
Being awakened at all hours day and night (and they don't care if you're a man or woman). The negative way the men treat women drivers is a reflection back from the lot lizards. A female trucker rarely is left alone because most of the men think she's either a lizard or easy like a lizard due to her occupation.
So Please, let us know in what light these nasty, foul creatures will be shed.
Intim is a LADY trucker....
Ro, somehow I couldn't quote that LADY thing with that sassy bunny included ....
In any case, on to the topic at hand.
1) I doubt you can do a ride-a-long with any truckers. Federal (DOT) regulations prevent that (passengers). Anyone volunteering to take you along for a ride is probably breaking the law.
2) Truck stop prostitution seems to be on the wane; and as is the case in any illegal form of this societal aberration, the prostitutes themselves seem to be the victims. Not all that long ago I had a truck stop hooker knock on my door in a snowstorm on Christmas Eve... the victim was obvious, missing a tooth or three, and quite sad. In retrospect I felt bad for not giving her a twenty when I turned her down... after all, I had a steady paycheck and a warm place to sleep; I was unsure that her situation was quite as rosy.
3) The big cities will probably be the most fertile hunting ground. Ontairo, CA... Gary, IN... etc.
I-95 exit 19 Phila. PA. out behind the big cold storage warehouse is the Walt Whitman truckstop. (edited) beat on the sleeper every 15 minutes. I got so angry I had to jump up and dead head 50 miles west to Gap Pa. so I could get some sleep while I waited on another load. The only other alternative would have been to cross the bridge and go over to Jersey, where it probably wouldn't have been any better. (if I could've even found a spot to park over there)
If someone is sitting up and trying to solicit their nasty butts , I don't care, thats their business. But when they start walking the lot, beating on my truck all night long when I'm trying to get some sleep, it really ticks me off!
I feel sorry for them though, most are enslaved to a drug habit and are aged far beyond their years and will very likely contract HIV. I have thought about trying to witness about the Lord to them but have chickened out for fear it may appear I was soliciting.
It is rare though that they knock on the truck like that.Mark is right, it is usually in the big cities.
Casa Grande, Tuscaloosa, Nashville, West Memphis, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Jackson MS, .....some of these are larger cities, some aren't but at each place and then some, I've had lizards knocking on my door.
Feeling sorry for them???? WHY??? They chose the drugs, they chose the life they live. To me it isn't any different than a burglar. They chose this life and their hard luck isn't my concern. I've been down and out, I've been homeless but I've NEVER sunk low enough to do the things they do. You want to give twenty dollars to a lady who's working her azz off (literally) then go into the restuarant of the truckstop and give it to the waitress who's trying her best to support her family. That skanky lot lizard is just going to shoot it up her arm or up her nose, at least that waitress will put food on her family's table or shoes on her childs feet. In the snow out whoring??? What about that waitress who walked to work or bummed a ride in that same snow? I'm sorry if I sound callous, I'm not, I have sympathy...but for those that deserve it.
Mark??? you don't like Happy Bunny?
Oh and a ride along, sure it's possible. Anyone who's an O/O or has a boss that doesn't mind, can get you a seat in a truck. It isn't against the law. A lot of drivers have passengers.
I doubt they ever thought their choice would take them that low. But I see your point, if they had any shame or self respect they would have took a job as a waitress, store clerk, dishwasher, anything but a prostitute. I honestly have to wonder what would make someone try crack for the first time given what is pretty much common knowledge today about "crackheads"/ "crack (edited)". Maybe they are sorry nasty skanks who just don't want to work.
At any rate, I'm sure there are some who were misguided, abused, pimped out and manipulated as teens or young women and deserve some sympathy.
I'm not a driver... but have been here at T/Net for a long time *as Ro will a-test*
I fully understand a driver's concern with the "population" that is knocking on doors at all times of night and day.
I can only say this... about that...
"let no one who is without sin... cast the first stone"
This is not intended to be a dig on any one.. please understand that.
There are "circumstances" that build upon a person that eventually drive that person beyond their limits to cope or comprehend what their life is/should be..
A true "Christian" or anyone else that professes to be in touch with the "Source" of All That Is... should have compassion in their souls for those who do not.
It is not up to ANY one on this Earth to judge or condem what drives another soul to do what it is doing at the present time.
You feel you canNOT "witness" RWD???? why not? is this "soul" NOT worth saving? Don't you think that this ONE person can be somehow redeemed?... made a viable part of society? Who are YOU to judge? Have you not stated elsewhere that only "God" can judge?
If NO helping hand is offered... how does one KNOW that the person they are in contact with will not change?
Wow! Kat, that is some great stuff, and I agree with you 100%.
I was furious some months ago when someone posted at the Round Table about a friend (or sister, I don't recall) that was a truck stop prostitute and had gone missing. The natives devoured it, and I believe it ended up in the shed.
I was furious, becuase had it been MY friend or sister, I would be frantic, and would believe, indeed, that it was a soul worth saving. I, in fact, have a sister on drugs, and it is painful to behold. The hand has been offered, and bitten, might I add, but the hand remains there just the same. If she ever does want help, I will be there.
Now, that said.....
I am a former truck driver, and interestingly enough, I have parked at many (ok, most) of the "infested areas" that have been mentioned in this post. I was never, ever harassed by the lizards, except for at this little tiny dive in Fresno. Some corner little Truckstop, gas station that I was bobtailed at. I had to pick up an 'empty' at a customer's lot, and it was not safe to do so at that hour, based on the area of town that the trailer was in...so, after telling my safety department to bite the big one, ( I was getting the empty in the morning,) I parked at this innocent looking little hole in the wall. These crack w h o r e s banged on my truck all night long. Some of them more than once. They were so skinny, that I could literally wrap my fingers around their ankles had I wanted to. The last one that woke me up....(probably the 12th time or so,) I grabbed my tire iron and went out swinging at her. Too bad I missed her. Must have been the lack of sleep.
Yes, and right you are, Ro. I have been asked more than once to provide my CDL as proof that I wasn't one of those. In fact, my resistence has lead to my being asked to leave a few certain truck stops for refusing to provide proof that I am a driver. They got their proof when I got into my truck and drove it off.
I try to judge not, (because I have been judged and shamed most of my life) but it is hard not to judge when these girls won't stop pounding on the doors of a truck! I seriously doubt that they would have responded to my reading of the scripture. I did carry a Bible in the truck.
I can clearly see both sides.
As far as Mr or Miss filmmaker, I think it's crap---but that's just me.
I feel it would be more appropriate for a female Christian to witness to them given their occupation. (The Bible tells us to abstain from the appearance of evil) I absolutely believe God can deliver them and thats why I thought of witnessing, I also feel sorry for them, I thought I made that clear.
I am far from perfect and this I know. Too judgemental and opinionated ? probably. Sorry but I get furious when I have been running hard and desperately need sleep and I get woke up every time I doze off. It is very hard to find parking especially in the N.E. and getting up to move in the middle of the night ain't no picnic. I'm sure you would have a few choice names to call them too if they were ringing your doorbell and banging on your house windows all night.
I DO understand RWD... I really do.
I certainly would NOT like to have someone banging on my door at all hours and would probably have a few harsh words as well... we ARE human after all. I guess I get a wound up at times when all I see is negativity being expressed. There is SO much of that in this world today and it seems that no one wants to change that over.
Mr. Justin, like other film makers, *IMHO* wishes to exploit the Lizard's plight on national TV. What would that do? would it HELP those women? probably not. I've not even seen any really good TV about truckers either for that matter. It seems no one really cares about how they get their goods in the stores or those men/women who drive to make that happen.
BTW... welcome Lady Trailblazer!!
Ontario CA- I 10 at the Millikin exit- there are 2 TA truck stops there. Go to the TA on the west side of Millikin and park somewhere on the southwest corner (by the hotel).
Jessup MD- at the TA- park on the north east corner of the lot.
I'm not kidding. I don't park at these places for this reason. I am not casting stones, but just the thought of it makes me sick.
i dont know about making a film about these women and or men.....all i have heard about are women. But there has to be some men who do it too. I drive locally in the PA/Oh/Wv area so i never really get to spend a night out of my comfy bed but with that said i have overnighted a few times in my nasty rusted piece of highway nostaligia (for those at home that would be a 1 1/2 ton straight truck not a big truck but a truck nonetheless) i dont have a sleeper so if i wont make it home i will usually rent a hotel/motel room from a national chain or if its only for a few hours ill take some of my emergency blankets and sleep in the cab.....so i cant accomidate the lizards anyway and if i saw one and trust me unless they knocked on my rusty door i wouldnt know who they were but if one did knock i believe i would at least try to preach the gospel to them. i will stop rambling now and go back to yelling at the old horse.........stupid old truck.........now now start dang it start
more doctors say a growning number of people have ADHD.............oh ...........ummm......what was i saying?.....oooo look at the pigeon.........wait get away from my truck
