infomation plsMorning all, I know I have not been here for a while but here I am again. I am working on a project for drivers out here. I am needing some input thought if you all would not mind. I am wondering if you had internet access through your company for assissting you on the road; what kind of information would you like on that area. IE: directions, truck routes, weight limits, restaurants, truck stops, emergency medical services around the country. Just pop in and let me know. I will be working with quite a few different companies that are interested in this for there drivers. Please be advised that this service will be free to the drivers that the companies will foot the expenses. This also applies to o/o unless they fell like they would like this for themselves for private use. Thanks for your help and have a great day.

Re: infomation pls
Internet access or Qualcomm? For a company to have internet access available to their drivers they'd have to invest in A) satellite or B) work a deal with a major supplier via aircards or C) access to the net via Qualcomm which is only available through the office personnel. Not possible as far as I can tell. IF this was available then definitely a mapping system, fuel services and mapping access to customers.
Of course this would be a wonderful idea since (guessimate here) over 60% of drivers are now hooked to the internet.
Sounds like a damn good idea and since the other services such as IdleAir is defunct it's a needed service. Thank you for coming to Truck.Net and asking Trucker_Mom http://beta.truck.net
Re: infomation plsThe technologies are coming, just slow to be embraced by the trucking industry, including truck manufacturers. All built into the dash.
New cars are already coming out with these new gadgets built in. "All voice activated" text to speech, speech to text, two way voice e-mail, two way voice internet, voice applications, internet radio, Nav, voice bluetooth, even wireless speakers. Just tell the computer in your car.."read me" the NY times...and it will be read to you. A lot of that is already built into smartphones. Ford, Audi, Mercedes, Chrysler, etc etc will be coming out with better systems this year. Ford already has their SYNC for their cars. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCg6NkSV ... re=related http://www.fordvehicles.com/technology/sync/ Cupcake.
